SHIFTER VS SHIFTEE, TRAINOR VS TRAINER

Sa "Kapalpakan 101" entry ko, nag-comment si Yam [dotasterisk@hotmail.com]. Sabi n'ya in Kapampangan: hi! trainer pu ali trainor.. 
Translation: hi! trainer po, hindi trainor.
Actually, may istorya yang entry ko na yan. Biyernes pa lang eh gawa na s'ya but since I wanted to make sure I was using the right terms, di ko muna s'ya pinost. Ise-search ko pa kase sa net para mas ok. At di lang yun ang ginawa ko, binulabog ko pa ang sambayanang Pilipino, meaning tinanong ko ang mga kakilala ko na very conscious sa grammar nila para maghanap ng kakampi, lol!
In short, I asked my 2 sisses, my friends from Peyups (mga Journ majors at Writing majors), etc about the terms "shifter", "shiftee", "trainor" and "trainer". At pare-pareho mga sagot namin, "shiftee" at "trainer" din yung alam nilang term.
La problema dun sa "shiftee" since alam ko na ito talaga ang ginagamit from the start. But I was surprised to know that alang "shiftee" na nag-eexist sa dictionary (based dun sa Google search ko). However, sa 5 taon ko sa UPLB eh puro "shiftee" ang alam kong ginagamit na term para sa mga "taong magshi-shift ng kurso".
Tipong nung Biyernes ko lang narinig yung term na "shifter" sa enrollment. Alam ko rin na maraming ibig sabihin ang salitang "shifter" pero ibang-iba ito sa nais ipakihulugan sa mga nagpapalit ng kurso. I was supposed to put my discovery about the "shiftee" thing sa same entry ko but I decided na wag na lang at baka mag-debate pa ukol dito, hehe!
Inisip ko na lang na parang magkakamag-anak ang "shiftee", "transferee", "enrollee", "cross-enrollee", etc. Pero ba't ganun? Ala "shiftee" sa dictionary. Pero nung mag-try ako mag-search using other keywords, may lumabas na Ateneo de Manila website and as expected, may mga nakasulat na shiftee/transferee, etc. dun sa link.
Now, going to the trainor/trainer thing…I was also supposed to check it online but dahil sa kacha-chat ko, nakaligtaan ko tuloy, hehe! But I really was contemplating whether to use trainor or trainer.
As far as I know, ang "trainer" ay ginagamit usually sa sports. Tipong boxing trainer (coach?). P'wede ding "animal trainer" or "personal trainer" sa gym. I asked 2 medical editors, pare-pareho kami nang pag-aanalisa dito.
Yung "trainor" naman is yung tipong people-oriented na facilitator na ewan ang dating. When I was an English Editor trainee for an American Medical Transcription Company, "trainor" din yung term na gamit namin dun sa nag-train sa akin.
Sa call center training naman namin, "trainors" din ang tawag sa kanila. I asked another friend of mine who's also a Journ major kung ano sa tingin n'ya ang sagot, "trainor" din yung term n'ya. She also worked for a call center company at same experience din daw, "trainors" ang tawag sa mga nag-train sa kanila.
Yun nga lang, when I checked the term "trainor" sa mga dictionaries online, ala results na lumabas (parang yung sa "shiftee). Pero check this out, http://www.google.com.ph/search?hl=tl&q=trainor&btnG=Hanapin&meta=cr%3DcountryPH.
Labo noh?! Lalo tuloy nawindang ang mundo ko, lol! Ano ba talaga, kuya?! Lol!
Parang gusto ko tuloy mag-email sa college namin at alamin yung sagot, hehe! Big deal kase sa amin yung mga ganyang bagay. Yung tipong pinagdedebatehan pa namin kung minsan kung ano yung tamang preposition for this or that word.
Nweiz, ang conclusion ko is BAKA parehong tama yung mga terms na "trainor" or "trainer" if we are referring to "someone who trains". Kumbaga ang question na lang is kung ano'ng term ba ang politically correct. Or baka naman misused word lang din ang "trainor". I really don't know kung ano ang tama but if ever I'm wrong, I stand corrected.
Pero yung "shifter", maling-mali talaga yun sa tingin ko. O baka naman maging right term din s'ya eventually?! Wag naman sana, parang ang sagwang pakinggan eh, hehe!
Syet! Kakalito ng mundo, lol! Sabi tuloy ng friend ko kung anu-ano daw pinoproblema ko, lol! Mas mabuti pa daw na showbiz na lang ang pag-usapan, hehe! Mukhang tama nga s'ya, lol!

No such thing as a TRAINOR, it’s a Filipinoism (words that only we Filipinos use; eg: CR, Fall in Line,etc) The correct term is TRAINER. I am a TRAINER in the call center industry, and it really ticks me off that my profession is usually spelled wrong (Docters, Lowyers. etc). i just got confused with trainer/trainee and then i found your blog entry. nagtanong tanong ako and here i am bumabalik sa page mo. there’s no such thing as “trainor”. it is just a matter of pronunciation. trainor ang basa if the word “trainer” refers to a facilitator. trainer ang basa if the word refers to to animal trainers, boxing trainers, etc.
